As its largest customer and former parent General Motors Corp. has
struggled, Delphi Corp. looks to expand beyond the auto industry.
A new Delphi transceiver designed in Kokomo might open the door. Parked
in front of the Kokomo world headquarters of Delphi Electronics &
Safety Wednesday morning was General Electric Co.'s Mobile Solutions
Center, a 53-foot-long, drop-deck trailer in which GE's technology
team is taking a nationwide tour. Inside, local Delphi engineers explained
the technology of Delphi's new satellite transceiver unit. GE will
use the DS300 with its VeriWise asset intelligence system, which allows
fleet owners to track and monitor mobile assets such as over-the-road
trailers.
